My holiday 2008

I believe that when you're in another place and time where culture is different, you tend to adhere your own belief detaching the present situation you're in. Rather it is difficult to blend each other. Then it is a matter of finding and looking your own desire and be able to choose it to connect yourself to reality.

Taiwan culture is definitely different to us. To point out one thing is their observation to the celebration of the Holidays lately. They don't celebrate Christmas and they don't definitely celebrate the New Year we had. Besides the chinese have their own new years to celebrate. To bad I was back here in Taiwan and these two celebrations I miss doing in the Philippines.

In the Philippines we have along weeks of Christmas celebration that extends to the new year. I remember when we have a Christmas Party each year in my last job I had and each year I won something from the company. Now we don't have any. All in our minds here is our work schedules and we have to work even in the day of celebration and even important dates of your life.

Those chinese who acknowledge the holidays are only department stores, goverment buildings, some restaurants and small stores. They decorated Christmas trees, lights and other things about Christmas. But that just it, only the celebration but nothing personal to them unlike us Filipinos and the rest of the world who celebrate the birth of Jesus. Outside they lack the spirit of christmas. It is just a normal day everyday. Only we Filipinos are nurturing our culture here.

And when Christmas and the New Year arrive, I have to programmed my mind that this day is the day of celebration and not get lost to my work schedules. Sometimes it is so lonely celebrating while you are away from your family. And when the hour of celebration is over, it's really over because you to be back to the reality that you are here to work.
